How does Yarbo deal with wet snow?

While the Yarbo S1 is adept at handling wet snow, its snow-clearing capability can sometimes be impacted due to the particular conditions of the snow. In such instances, we suggest the following strategies to optimize your Yarbo S1's performance:
  1. Early Snow Removal: Initiating snow removal early can make a significant difference. As the wet snow accumulates and becomes denser over time, it gets more challenging to remove. Use the scheduling feature on the Yarbo app, particularly when outdoor temperature is around 0°C because the snow tends to be wetter under such conditions.
  2. Dynamic Adjustment Algorithm: Yarbo's dynamic adjustment algorithm manages its speed when on a work plan. The inbuilt current indicator identifies the load on Yarbo and adjusts the speed if the current is high (indicative of thick/wet snow), preventing overcurrent and balancing protection and efficiency.
  3. Equipment Adjustments: When dealing with wet snow, you can enhance Yarbo's performance by removing the protection fence, skid shoes, auger housing on both sides, and chute cover. However, exercise extra caution for optimum safety once these components are removed.
  4. Increased Impeller Speed: A higher impeller speed aids in the removal of wet snow. In upcoming firmware updates, we plan to enable the setting of an even higher impeller speed.
  5. Regular Chute Cleaning: Prevent chute blockages by regularly clearing out hardened snow using the provided clean-out tool. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning connection parts to prevent freezing and the application of a non-stick spray to the auger, impeller, and snow chute are also recommended.
Please note that if the chute is clogged, press the Emergency Stop button on Yarbo first before cleaning it with the clean-out tool.
While wet snow can pose a challenge for more snow blowers, Yarbo included, please rest assured that our team is steadfast in its commitment to continually refine both our hardware and algorithms to enhance performance under these conditions. We anticipate gathering more data from our users' experiences from this winter, which will further drive our development efforts in tackling such weather adversities efficiently.
