How to choose and adjust obstacle avoidance mode for my Yarbo?
What is the obstacle avoidance mode for?
Avoidance mode is designed to automatically adjust Yarbo to your lawn situation. Each obstacle avoidance mode automatically has a default of camera sensitivity and ultrasonic sensors, in order to ensure smooth and uninterrupted experience during automatic operation.
There are three typical obstacle avoidance modes in Yarbo to simplify your using experience.
- Sensitive Bypass: The bypass distance is set to maintain a 50cm(±10cm) gap between the inner side of the machine and the outer side of obstacles. With enhanced sensitivity to small obstacles, Yarbo is able to detect and identify most obstacles in this mode. It is recommended for a relatively clean and well-maintained lawn with fewer obstacles to offer the safest mowing experience, but may occasionally miss some working areas.
- Moderate Bypass: The bypass distance is set to maintain a 20cm(±10cm) gap between the inner side of the machine and the outer side of obstacles. It is recommended for a complicated lawn with uneven grass to bypass obstacles lower than 20cm like weeds, stones, toys, etc., balancing missed working areas with safety.
- Gentle Contact: This setting allows the machine to make light contact with obstacles (speed reduced to 0.1 m/s). It is recommended for tall grass higher than 20cm in your lawn or divided areas in one working area to offer minimal missed working areas.
The above are quick modes set for the most common scenarios. If you wish to make other adjustments during use, you can click "Customize" to adjust the vision bypass and sensors setting accordingly.
How can I estimate my lawn situation?
To ensure optimal performance of your Yarbo, it is recommended to estimate your lawn situation. There are several criteria you can consider when it comes to lawn stituation assessment.
- Grass Density: Thick, full and dense grass with minimal bare spots indicates a healthy lawn, which is ideal for applying Sensitive Bypass mode.
- Lawn Uniformity: Uneven lawns, with bumps, dips, or slopes, can challenge the mower’s ability to cut the grass evenly. It's recommended to use a moderate bypass mode to ensure the mower can adapt to these variations.
- Obstacle height: 20cm is considered as the height threshold for switching between the moderate bypass and gentle contact modes in the lawn mower. The moderate bypass mode is recommended for obstacles such as weeds, stones, or small to medium-sized toys that are less than 20cm in height, while the gentle contact mode is used for taller weeds to minimize damage to the lawn or when there are dividing sections within a work area.
- Weed and Moss Coverage: If the lawn has a significant amount of weeds or moss, selecting an gentle contact and moderate bypass mode that can better handle uneven surfaces might be necessary.
